Tail of the dragon (September)

Some of my friends went a couple weeks ago, and said it was a blast.

I want to go after the show at z1.
Possibly on the sunday following.

Anyone else want to go hit it up?

Its 318 low speed turns in 11 miles.

Usually there are photographers and you can buy some photos of you in action.

Mods, please edit to September.

Re: Tail of the dragon (november)

You guys are looking at a 600 mile round trip from ZNats. Should have come up last weekend to ZDayz. I dont know who told you about the "low speed turns" but they lied. You will get run over if you arent pushing it pretty much all out.

Second gear can go along ways on the Dragon , if you don't believe me just ask James (Outkast) It will be well worth your trip to run it to the north and then back to the south. You can reach 60 mph on some of the stretches easily......stopping from that mph is a different story LOL Oh , going in September now.....the leaves will be awsome for some pics.

Re: Tail of the dragon (September)

So far, the day would be sunday.

As for the course, good pads are reccomended...

I run to the AutoX every so ofter and have a pretty decent brake set up, so it excites me to try and hit 3rd, but I dont think the risk is worth the effort.

Re: Tail of the dragon (September)

You are 3 1/2 hours from Z1 door to Fontanta Dam then 15mins up 28 to start the dragon. If your leaving the dragon for Ohio your only choice in leaving for home is Sky way to 68n to I 75n to Cin,Ohio that's 7hrs my driving style (kinda fast).. well you could go through (411) the smokey Mtn. Pk. much slower traffic But I am in!

It would be a piece of cake to get into 3rd. I've done the dragon quite a few times.

That being said, not worth the risk. Take it from someone who balled up his car on 28 between Fontana and 129...

I'll be going again in August likely. Probably taking the Z this time, but won't be leading anymore.
